there is 5 main categories for origins, four of which are the four plural rings:

⤷ Spontaneous - systems / headmates that formed suddenly without a particular cause. This can happen in various ways, such as dissociation, or walk-ins.
Spontaneous is one of the four plural rings, and can be combined with other terms to describe mixed-origin systems.

⤷ Created - systems / headmates which formed purposely for any reason.
It is one of the four plural rings, and can be combined with other terms to describe mixed-origin systems.

⤷ Adaptive - systems / headmates which formed in response to trauma or other adversity. A common trait of such systems is viewing plurality as adapting, healing, and overcoming obstacles.

⤷ Unknown - system / headmates whose origins are not known, or uncertain. This may be due to being recently discovered or not wishing to define oneself with specific labels.
Unknown is one of the four plural rings, and can be combined with other terms to describe mixed-origin systems.

⤷ Mixed - systems / headmates that has multiple different system origins. This could be because their system / headmate(s) formed from a combination of factors, or that not all of the system's headmates are of the same origin.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

There are many different ways a system can form, sometimes there may not be terms for what a system experiences

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Much like systems, headmates can form from almost anything, but they do not have to reflect what the system's origins are, e.g: a traumagenic system with a endogenic headmate

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Any of the system origins can be used as a headmate's origin

System Origins

━━━━━━━━━━
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
━━━━━━━━━━

Acquiregenic
Acquiregenic is a system origin where the body gained plurality from an acquired biological characteristic.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Agenic
Agenic systems are systems who don't identify with any origins/view their system as not having any origins.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Archogenic

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Catharigenic
A catharigenic system is one whose origin is caused by the natural/unintentional creation of new members.

This is meant to be an option for willogenic systems, willowers, thoughtforms, and other plural folks who were unintentionally created, but still fall under “Created” in some way. Catarigenic is meant to be a parallel to willogenic, and can go together with it at times. Similarly, catarigenic has no connection to tulpamancy.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Ceregenic
Ceregenic refers to systems that formed either directly due to a brain injury, or to help cope with the effects of a brain injury.
Ceregenic systems are usually adaptive.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Cryogenic
A synonym for quoigenic, where it seemingly comes out of nowhere, or like its coming from the “cold”; a system that seems to have frozen before (dormancy) and is now “thawing” (multiple alters) or vice versa; a system that flows between the above definition consistently due to things such as trauma or neurodivergence; a system that feels like it goes dormant in certain “seasons” or periods experienced by the body; etc.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Endogenic
Endogenic plurality is a catch-all term for non-traumagenic plurals (headmates that do not originate from trauma). The word "endogenic" comes from the prefix "endo-" meaning "internal/within", combined with the suffix "-genic" meaning "produced or caused by".

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Esogenic
Esogenic is a system origin that is very specific to its individual system users. From the word "esoteric," esogenic means that the system's origins are either:

⤷ A specific origin that only the system understands
⤷ A specific mix of origins that only the system understands
⤷ The system can describe the origin, but does not yet have a name for it
⤷ A specific mix where the system does not know every type
⤷ A system may still continue to call themselves esogenic, if they fit the third definition, but have found/coined a name for it.

Esogenic can also be used alongside other origins (ex: praesigenic and esogenic).

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Ethergenic
A mixed origin system with both soulbonds and thoughtforms in large enough numbers that their origin feels like it is both of these origins. Derived from the word ether, a word for space and stillness.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Exotraumagenic
A system, subsystem or sidesystem that is formed completely or partially as a result of exotrauma, otherwise known as trauma that did not happen to the system's physical body in this universe. This term was coined by Dödstöld Package, and an alternate term for this origin is exogenic.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Formation
Formation refers to any process that results in the creation of a new headmate or system.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Gendiegenic
Gendiegenic (or gendergenic) is an origin term for systems, members, or headspaces that have origins somewhat connected to gender.

This can be for a variety of reasons, which include, but are not limited to:

⤷ Systems or system members forming to help cope with dysphoria
⤷ Forming because of the trauma of growing up raised as the “wrong” gender (in which case it would be a type of traumagenic)
⤷ Median (sub)systems (or others) with facets and/or medianmates forming to embody or express genders
⤷ As gender entities,
⤷ Innerworlds/layers forming because of or existing as cosmien gender realms (this subtype is called cosmiengenic or cosmigenic).

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Iatrogenic
Iatrogenic refers to

a) A system was made by other people convincing them they were a system. They weren't a system previously but after people started telling them they were they believed them which led to them actually forming a system.

b) A system formed through therapy. This could be through internal family systems therapy, their therapist convincing them they're a system and them believing them or if they were abused in therapy and had to form a system to deal with it.

Kiagenic
Kiagenic refers to a system, headspace, headspace layers, cosmoses, metalayers or any alarachs, sisasystem or system member formed out of chaos/pre-existing or primordial potential energy for existence, brought or manifested into existence or awareness via gentle nudging of unconscious processes.

Kiagenic is distinct from parogenic in that it is not a conscious process with directed willful intent, though it can have more minor conscious elements.

The term can also be used as an origin term for “accidental parogenic/willogenic systems/members”, who arise from deliberate action, but not intent to become plural/create system members.

The term was created based on the concept of chaos in chaos theory, as well as the concept of kia in chaos magic, and the ancient Greek primordial Chaos, though it’s intended to be a fully agnostic and separate term usable by all.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Melogenic
Melogenic is an origin term denoting a headmate or system that was pulled into existence by listening to a song or hearing a certain melody.

It is intended to be used as a sub-category for walk-in headmates, but is not limited to this.

Tulpamancy is a related concept, but the term is avoided by some systems due to its origins or other reasons. Similarly, parogenic may be avoided by some systems in favor of tulpamancy/tulpagenic.

Parogen refers to a parogenic headmate.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Praesigenic
Praesigenic is a system origin term that means a system doesn't want their origin known, or doesn't want to tell that specific person.

It's intended as a "fuck you" to the person asking. This can be for any reason, including safety or spite.

Quoigenic, congenic, and cryptogenic are other origin terms that can be used as ways to avoid providing an origin.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

b) A system created by the self. Another term for pariogenic,

c) A reclamation of a term used against them.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Quoigenic

It's derived from the French word "quoi", which approximately means "what".

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Supragenic
Supragenic is a system that existed previously for natural reasons, but had its functions or members altered after a traumatic event.

Supragenic can be compounded with other system origins, such as suprametagenic, denoting the system is supragenic and metagenic.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Tulpamancy
Tulpamancy is the art of purposefully creating headmates through various techniques. A headmate created in this way is called a "tulpa". A tulpamancer is a practitioner of tulpamancy.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Voidgenic
Voidgenic as a term has two meanings, both of which are similar to each other.

A) A system that came from the Void. An origin where they feel like their system originated from the void and came to them. The system could also be a system that is still part of the void, and gains people from the Void.

B) A system whose origin is too hard to explain, so it simply Came From The Void, nothing more to it. A system whose origin can’t really be easily explained, or explained at all, to people outside of the system, so it just Came From The Void.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Willogenic
Willogenic refers to a system that was purposefully created or willed into existence, with no connections to tulpamancy at all.

Headmate Origins

system members that form due to weather conditions or environmental conditions.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Araisagenic
A system that is formed through escapism and speaking to people who are not there, until they are. These systems can evolve into other origins, like parogenic. This can be caused by children hiding from real life by retreating into a world and being imaginative, and these "imaginary" worlds and friends can evolve into system members over time. After a long time of this, Araisagenic systems can make system members appear on a whim with only minimal knowledge, however this can lead said system member to have amnesia. Can be caused or influenced by MaDD

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Astro
A system having an infinite/nearly infinite amount of members.
A similar term to Astro is PolyAstro

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Demi-plural
Demi-plural is the state of being stuck between plural and singlet and not fully relating to either. May be more common among median systems, but is not exclusive to them. Can be described as a sort of purgatory.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Dreamway
Dreamway systems are for neuronarrators/people with maladaptive daydreaming (MaDD)/similar experiences. Essentially like a gateway system, except the "outside source" you have connection to/with are that of your daydreams world/s, and the people that walk in are paratives (headmates formed from MaDD/similar experiences)

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Faciogenic
A subsystem made up of created headmates (thoughtforms).

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Gateway System
Gateway systems can be defined in different ways. However, they are most typically defined as
systems where headmates have their own physical or spiritual bodies in another world/dimension/universe [including the inner world]
or
systems that have a gateway/connection to another world/dimension/universe, that headmates can enter and exit through

By definition, gateway systems have at least a partially metaphysical or spiritual origin. This is because their various headmates can be separate souls or simply spirits who have passed on. This is similar to the concept of Soulbond Systems

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Infinite System / PolyAstro
a system with infinite/nearly infinite headmates, and several groups/areas (subsystems, sidesystems, layers, etc)
Might have a gateway/dreamway etc, where headmates come and go between.
A similar term to Polyastro is Astro

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Median System
A median system is a system that has members who are more interconnected and less distinct than those of multiple systems.

Median systems may see themselves as being interconnected identity-wise or mentally, and may not be able to psychologically separate themselves from each other in the same way multiple systems might. They may see themselves as parts of one person or as people who share many aspects of the same mental identity. Some median systems depend on a core host or person to exist, while others do not and all coexist with the same level of power. (This is in contrast to multiple systems, who usually see themselves as mostly distinct entities who share a brain and body, but not various aspects of the same psychological and mental identity.)

It is important to note that medians are usually considered full people in their own right-that is to say, while they may experience themselves as being more interconnected and less distinct than many multiple systems, they are typically still able to feel a full range of emotional and mental states.

Median systems are in between singlets and multiple systems. They are not considered singlets as they are plural and have more than one mind, even if it’s deeply interconnected or intertwined with others at times.

Median was coined as a replacement for the older term midcontinuum, and was not intended by its coiners to be used by individuals with Dissociative Identity Disorder or any other form of medically disordered plurality

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Mesosian
Medians who are in or around the middle of the spectrum.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Mixed System
A system with both median and multiple parts (not to be confused with Mixed Origin System.) A system that is a mix between median and multiple.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

O-System
A system that forms headmates based on the core (or another headmates) original characters/ocs. These are usually considered introjects, as they represent the characters and beings the person created.
These headmates usually cannot front, and tend to stay within the innerworld. The innerworld is usually built to represent the world they were created in, however this is not always the case.
Usually these headmates can remember the backstories the creator gave them, and have exomemories and exotrauma based around it.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Orbit System
A system that has a central body in which alters revolve in cycles ; alters are set to a certain time of day when they front ; or
alters front only rarely, and wait for all other system mates to front before fronting again

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Parasian
Medians who are closer to the singlet side of the spectrum.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Pariogenic
A pariogenic system is a system mostly made up of walk-ins and/or soulbonds. A pariogenic system may also consider themselves a Spirigenic and/or Metagenic system.
The term is derived from the root "pario", meaning "to bear, to bring forth, to produce".

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Phytogenic
A system that constantly divides other system members up, and fuses them back together after a while, or constantly divides in general

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Polyfragmented
A system with 100 headmates or more. These types of systems are also known for having multiple subsystems and layers. These kinds of systems have fragments, as well.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Polymultiple

Polymultiple doesn't have fragments.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Polyplural
A general term for any type of system with 100+ members.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Pregenic
A pregenic system is a system where many or all of their members came from a past life. The term is derived from the prefix pre-, meaning before, and the -genic suffix for system origins. It was coined by Butterfly Blood on Tumblr.

Aspects of being pregenic may be:

⤷ A strong connection to a past life and considering it part of their identity
⤷ System members who aren't sure if they formed from trauma or aren't entirely comfortable with the word due to past life memories or having a past life
⤷ Being reincarnated in the same body as their system
⤷ System members/subsystems who see themselves as sharing a soul rather than just being a system
⤷ System members who were formed before their system, and have a history elsewhere (similar to walk-ins and soulbonds.)

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Pyro
A once small system of only a few headmates and a host that had a large influx of headmates enter into the headspace ; a once large system of many headmates that lost a large portion of the alters to dormancy or something else ; a system that has many alters that fluctuate in and out of dormancy ; or
a system that never has a stable amount of alters at one time

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Soulbond System
Soulbonding is typically seen as a spiritual occurrence where a character from fiction essentially bonds to a person. Soul Bonds are souls from another universe or plane of existence that "latches on" to their Host. That other plane of existence is usually the universe of a fictional show or place, but it can be the universe the host created as well. The soul usually already has a form, identity, vocality, etc. because they already developed those things in their own universe. In other words, soulbonds are like walk-ins.

A soulbond functionally can be seemingly sentient from the start and autonomous unlike a tulpa (created from scratch), but may not see themselves as a form of plurality. Of course, the person can have multiple soulbonds from various tales of fiction similarly to Tuplamancy and there is no limit to the amount of soulbonds a person can have.

Not all soulbonds will live with you. Lots of soulbonders have long-distance soulbonds, which are soulbonds who stay in their universe but you can still communicate with. And other soulbonds, called day-trippers, will go back and forth between their universe and yours. Permanent residents are the soulbonds who permanently live with you.

Soulbonding is much more frequent to creators of worlds, especially authors having soulbonds of their own characters. There have been studies of authors, which the study stated that over 90% of authors have experienced their characters acting somewhat autonomously(with the freedom to act independently). For the majority, and soulbonding in itself is an unintentional process unlike Tuplamancy, hence why the community views it as such a specialty. However, it isn't always unintentional. Lots of people will deliberately soulbond with a character, by indulging in media to do with that character, calling out to them, and much more.

In the present day, soulbonding is much less common. The separate soulbonding community has gone quiet due to many non-soulbonding systems having fictives . Which are different than soulbonds and can have a variety of akiness to characters, but don't always view themselves as full real character of which soulbonds see themselves as.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Växer
A system where all the headmates grow older each year as the body grows a year older.

-based suffix
The -based suffix is a plurality-related suffix created by plurgai on Tumblr. It is for system structures, functions, etc that modify how the system works or are a type of system, but not the true origin of how the system came to be. It can also include systems who had a specific origin but later started having more system members of different types than system members who come from the original origin. The creator has stated that they are open to more -based terms being created than the ones they originally created, provided that the term is derived from an already-existing origin or is coined at the same time as a newly coined origin.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

-genic suffix
The -genic suffix is a plurality-related suffix created in 2014 by The Lunastus Collective, formerly Alnilam. They describe the origin of a plural, that is, the phenomena or phenomenon that caused them to become plural, and were created to describe being plural/multiple without needing to use the overarching word, and as a response to a large number of system exclusionists not wishing for people who didn't have a dissociative disorder to use the already existing terms.

Over the years since the coining of the term, many system origins have been coined that use the -genic suffix, and it is a common way to describe the way an individual's plurality came to exist.

Multiple Origins

Algenic
Algenic is a similar term to Pangenic or Polygenic. It refers to a system that technically has every (non-appropriative for them) system origin, but only some of the origins are important enough for them to identify with, or there are only a few of a different origin in their system. The primary reason for using this origin would be knowing that they fit under all (or nearly all) origins, but they don't like to use some of the origins for comfort, or because they prefer to use the most specific origin. It was coined by the Capri Suns & Gushers system.

Examples of this could be:
⤷ Not actively identifying as an origin because it doesn't feel like it fits right, but acknowledging
⤷ Describing oneself as a dreamway system, instead of dreamway, paragenic and neurogenic.
⤷ Not actively identifying as an origin because it doesn't feel like it fits right, but acknowledging that you still are that origin
⤷ Using only umbrella terms like Endogenic, instead of subsets of the term like neurogenic or spirigenic.
⤷ Having mostly members of one origin, but not actively identifying as the origin that the minority of the system is (such as not identifying as ⤷ Willogenic even though you created some of your system members).

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Chaogenic
Chaogenic refers to systems or headmates that either have many different origins or have origins that are considered to be chaotic in nature.

Congenic
Congenic is a term used to indicate that someone's origins are complicated. It can be used as a standalone origin or in conjunction with other origin terms.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Diformogenic
A system with thoughtforms who are of both metaphysical and psychological origins, with the two origins being different enough for them to consider their system mixed-origin, from "formo", derived from the word thoughtform, and "di", a prefix meaning two.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Divergenic
A system with subsystems or sidesystems of different origins, which makes the system overall mixed-origin. Derived from the word divergent.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Fleirgenic
Fleirgenic refers to a system that knows they are of mixed origins, but doesn't discern the origin of (most of, or all) their individual system members because it doesn’t matter to the system or they feel like they would accidentally cause an internalized hierarchy.

A system that has multiple origins, except system members don't have origins (either actually doesn’t, doesn’t feel member origins are important, etc.)

Fleir- is derived from the Norwegian adjective fleire, meaning multi- or many.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Isoscegenic
Isoscegenic refers to a system with one primary origin, but also has a few headmates that don't have the same origin as the system as a whole.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Mixed Origin
Mixed origin refers to a system that has multiple different system origins. This could be because their system formed from a combination of factors, or that not all of their headmates are of the same origin.

Mixed origin systems can be a combination adaptive, traumagenic, spontaneous, or created. It can also be used like praesigenic, denoting a system with complex or hard to define origins.

If a system has one primary origin but ultimately multiple causes among headmates, the term isoscegenic may apply. There's also much overlap with polygenic and pangenic

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Multigenic
Mixed origin refers to a system that has multiple different system origins. This could be because their system formed from a combination of factors, or that not all of their headmates are of the same origin.

Adaptive
An adaptive system is a system that formed in order to cope with trauma, i.e., to adapt to the traumatic environment they were in. It is a synonym for traumagenic, and an alternative term for those who don't like -genic origin labels or find them confusing. It was coined by Emmengard. The coiner's stated reason for their creation and use of the term was because using traumagenic "felt like it was throwing our trauma in our faces". The term was coined prior to 2019, but popularized after the Plural Positivity World Conference in 2019. The term adaptive is not exclusive of using other origin labels/descriptors

it can also mean a system that changes and forms to adapt to their environment.

Alphagenic
TW: sensitive or potentially triggering content regarding Abuse. Please take care when reading if you are sensitive to such content.
Alphagenic is a traumagenic system origin where a system was formed specifically by Type A trauma.

Trauma Type A refers to the absence of the good and necessary things needed to grow a healthy, stable identity. Type A traumas are the things that keep us from growing strong emotional and relational capacity. Type A traumas include things like: neglect, malnutrition, sickness/disease, lack of affection, etc.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Araisagenic
Araisagenic systems are formed through escapism and speaking to people who are not there, until they are. These systems can evolve into other origins over time.

This can be caused by children hiding from real life by retreating into a world and being imaginative, and these imaginary worlds and friends can evolve into system members.

After a long time of this, araisagenic systems can make system members appear on a whim with only minimal knowledge, however, this can lead said system member to have amnesia.

System members made by araisagenic systems come from timelines, which are also created by the system. They may be able to return to their timelines for short periods of time.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Betagenic
TW: sensitive or potentially triggering content regarding Abuse. Please take care when reading if you are sensitive to such content.

Betagenic is a traumagenic system origin where a system was formed specifically by Type B trauma.

Trauma Type B refers to the bad things that happen that overwhelm our emotional and relational capacity. The experiences of Type B traumas cause our emotional and relational circuitry to shut down. Our brain enters “survival mode” and is primarily interested in trying to help us stay alive.

Type B trauma includes the kinds of things that we usually think about as being traumatic. These include things like: abuse (verbal, emotional, physical or sexual), violence, or the experience of catastrophic natural disaster.

Deprietygenic
Deprietygenic is a type of plural system stemming from Anxiety or depression. The term was coined on the 21st of December 2020 in a now deleted tumblr post. Deprietygenic is often mistaken for Endogenic or Tulpa System systems.

Some Facts About Deprietygenic

⤷ Deprietygenic systems have to have Anxiety or Depression (not the emotions the disorders)
⤷ The original system that came up with the term deleted their entire Tumblr account because of the hate.
Deprietygenic systems do not stem from BPD, Bipolar and any other disorders like them
⤷ Deprietygenic systems can also be Traumagenic and have mixed origins
⤷ Deprietygenic systems have been around for awhile just because they are only now being recognised does not make them any less valid.

Dissociagenic
A dissociagenic system or headmate is one that formed as a result of dissociation, be it that the process of dissociation caused it to form, that it was formed as a means of coping with the dissociation, or otherwise.

This may manifest as a system returning from a dissociative episode and discovering that, as opposed to a previous headmate fronting or a hidden headmate coming out of hiding to front, an entirely new headmate has formed and begun fronting.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Estiesgenic
A system that was partially or completely formed out of a hyper-focus, special interest, or similar neurodivergent interest. This origin may overlap with or be seen as a subset of neurogenic. It can also include dreamway systems (a kind of paragenic system).

Due to this being specific to neurodivergent interests, the term is only to be used by systems that consider themselves neurodivergent and have intense interests like autistic special interests or ADHD hyper-focuses.

The term is derived from the Greek word for hearth or home, which was the meaning of the Latin term focus.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Extraumagenic
An extraumagenic system, also known as exgenic, perplexgenic or pertraumagenic (not to be confused with partraumagenic), is a system that is partially or wholly formed from some form of trauma, but the system does not know what kind of trauma it is or does not wish to disclose which kind of trauma it is. The term is also inclusive of subsystems and sidesystems that are trauma-formed even if the main plural collective as a whole is non-traumagenic.

Fixagenic
A system that is formed from a hyperfixation.

This could be through internal family systems therapy, their therapist convincing them they're a system and them believing them or if they were abused in therapy and had to form a system to deal with it.

c) A reclamation of a term they've had used against them.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Intratraumagenic
An intratraumagenic system is one that formed partially or wholy from intratrauma.

This includes if only certain subsystems or sidesystems formed this way even if the rest of the system formed in a different way.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Isolgenic / Socinagenic

TW: talk of Isolation and Neglect
Isolgenic/ Socinagenic is an origin where a system / headmate / subsystem / etc. was formed from isolation and / or social neglect

This can be classed as a traumagenic or stressgenic origin but it's up to the system who identifies with this term

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Neurogenic
Neurogenic refers to systems that formed as a result of their neurodivergence, or from a mental illness. Usually, headmates originate from the need to cope, or be introjects based off symptoms like hallucinations or hyperfixations. Neurogenic systems may or may not disclose the specific disorder or neurodivergence they have.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Neurotraumagenic
A neurotraumagenic system or headmate is one formed from their neurodivergence affecting/being involved with their trauma.

This can be a system where their neurodivergence affected their perception of their trauma, making it seem "bigger" than compared to how a neurotypical person would perceive.

The term could also be a system formed from the trauma of being treated badly for being neurodivergent.

Neurotraumagenic systems or headmates can define how they fit with this label themselves.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Outertraumagenic
A system, subsystem, headmate, or otherwise that is formed as a result of another person's trauma (outertrauma). Ways in which this could apply are:

The trauma that another person has experienced caused the body enough stress, sadness, or similar, that it formed a system, subsystem, or headmate

⤷ A system, subsystem, or headmate was formed in order to cope with the other person's trauma

⤷ A system, subsystem, or headmate was formed due to the belief that it would take their trauma away or make it less prominent (this could be due to delusional experiences or neurodivergence for example)

⤷ The thought of the trauma another has experienced caused enough fear to form a system, subsystem, or headmate

⤷ Another person who has experienced trauma lacked somebody to help with said trauma, causing a system, subsystem, or headmate to form with the intention of protecting that other person

⤷ An alternate name for this origin would be outergenic.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Paragenic
The term paragenic describes a system's origin as having been caused or influenced by Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder, or other alike neurodivergencies.[1]

Such kinds include neuronarrative traits. Paragenic might be used to describe the origin of a dreamway system.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Parotraumagenic
A parotraumagenic system or headmate was created to deal with trauma; for example, to ward off loneliness during bullying, or someone to do tasks the original was unable to do due to triggers. Typically, said creation is a conscious decision.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Peiragenic
TW: sensitive or potentially triggering content regarding Suicide. Please take care when reading if you are sensitive to such content.

A peiragenic system or headmate is a subset of the traumagenic origin, specifying that the cause is a suicide attempt.

The term was derived from the ancient Greek 'peira-', meaning 'attempt'.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Psychologenic
Psychologenic is an umbrella term for systems whose origins are entirely psychological in nature, not exclusive to neurogenic or traumagenic systems.

The term can also be used as a modifier to specify that a specific subsystem/headmate/etc is psychologenic.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Psygenic
Psygenic denotes an origin that may be due to psychosis or psychotic experiences.

Not to be confused with the medical term psychogenic, which does not relate to plurality, systems, or headmate origins.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Schizogenic
Schizogenic is a term for when ones plurality is tied to/influenced by schizo spectrum/being schizo-spec or carrying a predisposition to schizophrenia.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Stressgenic
Stressgenic is a system or system member who formed due to stress, typically by splitting.

Unlike traumagenic, the origin can be because of stress, which isn't entirely traumatizing, or may be used by traumagenic systems who don't want to label it as trauma for one reason or another.

⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★⋯✧⋯★

Traumagenic
Traumagenic refers to a system whose creation/origin is the result of one or more traumatic events. Often, these systems have lingering trauma, and may fall under a diagnosis like DID or OSDD-1.
